OUR PASSION + TRAVELS

RECENT DISCOVERY—
DRAGON’S WING
St. Helen’s Bay | South Africa
Here is a truly beautiful salt from an artisan salt producer near St. Helena’s Bay on the west coast of South Africa where cold Antarctic waters stream northward along the west coast and are captured into shallow salt ponds. On just certain mornings, when the mist clears and the temperature is just right, an exquisite salt flake– a broad, lacey and delicate flake* looking very much like the wing of a dragonfly- is born.
This beautiful salt is being considered as an addition to our line. However, due to the extreme delicacy of the salt, the "wing" flakes very rarely stay intact during shipping.

WE TRAVELED TO SOUTH KOREA IN PURSUIT OF THE FINEST SEA SALTS IN THE WORLD.
Having the amazing opportunity to travel to South Korea, as a guest of the South Korean Government of Gwang Ju Province, I was invited to visited their first annual Solar Sea Salt Fair and International Food Fair where I discovered a wonderful world of flavors and foods as well as beautiful salts!
The trip was an incredible experience and opportunity to see how the South Koreans have become a progressive, competitive and highly productive culture that in the early 1950's was almost in ruin with the war.
We disovered a delicate and delightfully crunchy white sea salt harvested from the pristine waters of the Yellow Sea on the western coastline of South Korea, a protected, natural sanctuary. To reflect both the South Korean culture and the physical qualities of their sea salt, we have named this beautiful salt, Salt of Heaven™, and it lives up to its name. A lovely crunchy salt, that offers a soft, salty flavor—perfect in all your cooking and baking and lovely in a small dish at the table as well.
We look forward to importing this salt soon! |
